Soda Blasting the truck

The truck is currently being soda blasted. The frame and the cab are almost completely finished. A few more days left and the repairs on the rust problems will take place.

A busy month of March

In March Jim continued to break down his Crew Cab. He cut his bumper off which cut a mere 300 pounds. Jim has found more rust that worries him but the show must go on. Jim hopes to have the truck's motor and transmission out this month as well as getting the truck's paint blasted off.

The parts truck, February 22-28

Jim and his friend went to purchase the parts truck on Saturday February 22. We got a canopy and a 1970 front grille with the purchase. On Wednesday and Thursday of that week Jim disassembled the parts truck.

Back in Spokane. 17 February 2008

We left Portland, OR just before noon on Sunday the 17th of February and made it to Pasco, WA around 4:00pm. We stopped at an undisclosed location to fix the Pinion seal leak. Jim completed the job in about 10 minutes. After that we went to look at a parts truck (69 Dodge D100 short box). We continued on to Spokane at 7:00pm and 40 miles out of Spokane the alternator went out. We pulled over to see if it was a simple fix but unfortunately it wasn't. We started up the Honda and turned on the parking lights, since the car was wired to the truck for brake and turn signals, it helped spare our battery. We made it to Spokane at around 9:45pm. The next morning we change the alternator, starter, and threw some nice wheel covers on the truck. We power washed both vehicles and called it a day.

On the road, 17 Feb 2008

We ended up having a few problems on the road. First, we had to push the truck with the Honda to jump start it. Then we pulled into a gas station after about 1.5 hours on the road to fill up and we noticed that the Honda was covered in gear oil. The pinion seal on the Dana 60 was gone and very kindly pumped the oil out of the differential and onto the car. We tried to fix it but couldn't break the nut loose on the yoke, so every time we filled up we put in 18 gallons of gas and 1 quart of gear oil. We ran out of gas around midnight the first night and pushed the truck down the freeway a few miles until we found an open gas station. We made it to Portland at about 0300.

First day of the trip to Spokane 17 Feb 2008

We stayed on Travis AFB and the next morning we awoke to do some much needed maintenance on the truck. We drained the black water out of the radiator, changed the oil, filled the differentials with gear oil, washed the windows and hooked up the Honda so we could tow it back to Spokane.
